Former E-orange owner, CEO shown arrested for embezzling Tk 88.98 lakh

Two individuals with a criminal record, comprising Masukur Rahman, who was the owner of the e-commerce website E-orange were taken into custody today in a matter that was filed with Gulshan Police Station over theft of around the sum of 88.98 lakh.

The other person indicted could be Aman Ullah Chowdhury, chief executive officer of E-orange.

Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury passed the order following Aminul Islam, inspector (investigation) of the Gulshan Police Station and also investigator of the case, made an application to be permitted for documenting their arrests in the investigation.

Masukur was the brother-in law of the suspended inspector Sheikh Sohel Rana, who was suspended from the Banani Police Station, was taken to the jail on the 17th of August after he surrendered before a second Dhaka judge in connection to a different case that was filed at that police station in connection with embezzlement amounting to around Tk 11,00 million from customers.

Aman Ullah was detained in connection with the same incident.

Masukur Aman Ullah and Masukur Aman Ullah were shown arrested in a case brought before Kotwali Police Station over misappropriating Tk 23.25 lakh from investors.

They were also put on a two-day remand within the court case.
